Parks and squares

"Um Belval" Park

The park extends over its 8 hectares of landscaped green spaces. Delicately and respectfully, the old landscape has been transformed into a natural space that connects the residential districts of Belval North and Belval South as well as the Square Mile district. On its many paths, walkers, cyclists, joggers and nature lovers can enjoy their favourite activities in complete safety. Rest areas, playgrounds and several theme gardens are also available to the public. In the heart of the park, a 20-metre wide "active" band offers football, volleyball and streetball fields as well as a skatepark. All the facilities, located in the immediate vicinity of the school, make the park an ideal place to relax.

Public Green

Public Green is the park's natural landscaped extension to the residential space of the Belval Nord district. A place of stroll, relaxation, meeting and freedom, Public Green is generously located between all the residences in the neighbourhood, right up to the banks of the Wassertreppe, with its fauna and flora that are characteristic of wetlands.

The Public Green is a private space open to the public. To take full advantage of all its possibilities, the public is invited to read the general rules of use published by Agora.

An abundance of free area

The public area of Belval defined by a number of squares with different characters. They offer an abundance of free area, and and an excellent recreational quality. Some clever examples are the square by the retirement and care home (CIPA) in Belval North and the design of the area around the "Bel-Val" college.

However, the best-known square is the one at the heart of Belval, right on the blast furnace terrace: the ”Place de l’Académie“ is the hub between the station, the university, the Rockhal, the experience world Belval Plaza and the BIL bank building. The vast “sunken” square is unique, and is the perfect link between the visible industrial history and modern architecture. The vast flights of stairs on the north and south ends are perfect for strolling and relaxing, as are the small lookout platform, the water basins and the islands with the comfortable seats.
