Site allocation on Central Square

Agora accepts bids from three applicants in selection process
Last November, the development company Agora launched a tender procedure for three building sites on the new Central Square quarter in the centre of Belval, currently home to the temporary Square Mile car park. The aim of the allocation process was to find high-quality, innovative construction projects for the first construction section in the new quarter. In total, 21 application files were submitted by teams consisting of property developers/investors and architects for the three tendered building sites. The submissions were checked anonymously against a comprehensive catalogue of criteria. The final decisions were made for the projects submitted by the following applicants: Tralux Immobilier/Petitdidier-Prioux Architectes, Soludec-Asars Development/Metaform Architects and Atenor/SteinmetzDemeyer Architectes Urbanistes. Each of the three projects combines residential, office and service areas. The total construction site of the three submissions is around 38,000 m², with 60 percent being for residential use, 35 percent for offices, and 5 percent for commercial and services areas. There is a particular focus on residential areas for families. Combined, all three projects will provide living space for 400 people and jobs for 700. Construction is due to commence in 12 to 18 months, and the three buildings are due for completion in 2020. The detailed press release on the allocation process is available in the press area on the Agora website  www.agora.lu
