The "Night of Cultures" will take place at Esch for what is now the ninth time on Saturday, 19 September, 2020.
While last year's event revolved around water and the Alzette, this year the motto is “Prendre l’air” – and it's all about air.
But the bicycle will also have a prominent role. There will be numerous installations and offers, all revolving around "Shanks's pony". And a number of organised routes for both cyclists and walkers will link Luxembourg and France on this day.
The event will start at 3.30 pm in Villerupt and in the centre of Esch. Accompanied by artists from home and abroad, visitors can expect a voyage of discovery to unusual and sometime unknown destinations.
At 6.30 p.m., the event will continue in Belval until midnight with numerous installations, concerts, exhibitions and artistic offerings for visitors to enjoy.
The delights on the temporary Parking Square Mile site are to include a performance of acrobatics by the Compagnie Inextremiste and involving a hot air balloon, while Agora's premises will have a selection of historic photos of the steel industry and aerial shots of the new Belval on display. Outside the Agora building, the Kamellebuttek gallery will be presenting an interactive textile and light installation under the title of "Rise with the wind".
From 9 p.m., there will be dancing to music by the Bortsch orchestra in the Halle des poches à fonte . And the Fonds Belval will be offering guided night tours of blast furnace A.
Please note: some events require visitors to book in advance.
